“Beyond technique — guiding violinists to think, listen, and grow as independent artists.”

Teaching Philosophy

I believe that learning the violin is not only about developing technique but also about cultivating artistic voice, curiosity, resilience, and a meaningful relationship with music. In my studio, students learn not only how to play but also how to listen, think, reflect, and grow as musicians and individuals.

My teaching focuses on helping students become independent and self-aware learners. Rather than relying solely on repetition, I guide students to set clear goals, understand technical challenges, and develop effective practice strategies. Through structured reflection and mindful practice, students gradually gain confidence, artistic ownership, and long-term musical independence.

Lessons combine foundational technique, musical interpretation, and performance preparation. Students work on sound production, bow control, left-hand efficiency, and expressive phrasing while learning how to approach repertoire thoughtfully. This approach supports students preparing for auditions, competitions, examinations, and advanced musical study.

As a bilingual musician working across cultures, I value each student’s unique background, personality, and learning pace. I strive to create a supportive environment where students feel respected, heard, and encouraged to take artistic risks. A strong sense of belonging and trust allows students to explore music more deeply and confidently.

Technology also plays a supportive role in my teaching. Through videos, digital resources, and online platforms, students can revisit concepts, observe problem-solving processes, and continue learning between lessons. For many students around the world, these tools provide access to mentorship that might otherwise be unavailable.

Ultimately, my goal as a teacher is to help students become thoughtful musicians, confident performers, and resilient individuals who can continue learning and growing throughout their artistic lives.
